It’s easy to become addicted to receiving positive validation from others. Like all addictions, when the drug we need is hard to come by, we suffer. But trying to manipulate others into affirming us is a waste of time. We don’t need to search outside ourselves because feeling worthy is always an inside job. The first step to dropping dependency on external affirmation is becoming aware that we do it. Catching ourselves in the act and feeling our lack of worthiness opens the door to wholeness.
