Our stories about ourselves can prevent us from even trying new things. We employ a large variety of excuses ranging from difficulty to danger to conformity to avoid exploring new ways of thinking, being and acting that frighten us or threaten our identities. But most of our excuses are bogus. Except for the rare exception, our apprehension just keeps us in a familiar box that eventually leads to stagnation and boredom. Dropping the excuses and digging deeper within to activate more courage might take us out of our comfort zone, but the result is…
Positively expansive.
