When you experience disappointment, fear or anger, do you immediately want to tell others about it? It’s normal to seek support by sharing negative experiences, but it only results in deepening discontentment. Repeating stories of heartache, misfortune or injustice fuels the energy that makes us feel bad and lodges it in our bodies. It strengthens unwanted neural pathways and increases the likelihood that we’ll have similar reactions to future events. There is a much healthier alternative: face the feelings, stay with them without resisting, distracting yourself or arguing and watch as the inevitable happens…
They fade away.
