Interviews with survivors who jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge confirm that they all had one amazing thing in common. An instant after leaping, every one of them felt immediate regret. They realized in those four short seconds how each problem, even those that seemed insurmountable only moments before, was solvable. On the descent, each survivor had an epiphany that the world is really a loving and supportive place. Next time you feel desperately stressed or depressed, remind yourself of what those whose pain took them to the brink of death and returned completely transformed learned…
Perspective.

This is an amazing and powerful story. I think we all feel more-or-less close to near-death stories.
A favorite piece of music of mine from 125 years ago has the English title “Death and Transfiguration”, but do look at the German original: “Tod und Verklarung”! Behold in that last word the English “clearing”, or “clarification
“. That transfiguration is a clearing! Isn’t that lovely? Clearing is available to all of us who work at it, without the desperate loss of any of us by suicide.
I am so determined not to be afraid!
