Physical pain is a signal from the body prompting us to change our behavior. The mind adds layers upon layers of suffering on top of the painful physical sensations, when it starts to worry about what the pain means, how it might last forever or if it’s signifying the end of our youth, etc. The messages from the body need to be addressed to maintain health, but it’s our fearful narrative that creates the most agony.
