Using fear to motivate ourselves unconsciously supposing that if we don’t work hard and outperform our peers, we won’t get what we want or be valued, admired or loved. But fear is a clumsy motivator. Running fear loops to inspire action increases insecurity and creates chronic stress. It may urge us on, but it also makes us less likely to enjoy the journey.
