Some would argue that always looking for the good in every person and situation is unrealistic, out of balance and evidence that we’re sticking our heads in the sand. This characterization is based on a faulty understanding of how the mind works. Being aware of potential negative outcomes is useful, but we needn’t suffer over them until they come to pass, if ever.
