The planet you live on is a wondrously diverse, endlessly mutating petri dish of possibility that’s in constant flux. Every person alive experiences this phenomenal unfolding of creation and destruction from a different perspective. Since ‘normal’ and ‘worthy’ are socially defined concepts, they have no meaning in the ultimate scheme of things. If you view each individual, no matter how different from yourself, as having something illuminating and worthwhile to offer…
Everyone is your teacher.

I am very appreciative of this concept, even though sometimes I still let fear get in the way of my learning. I do not wish to limit it to humans either, because I learn a lot from animals I know and animals I don’t, and occasionally a tree or large moss. I do feel there is a spectrum of consciousness, probably much wider than supposed. We know it doesn’t stop at humans, which is what eighteenth-century philosophers seemed to believe. We are all certainly doing the best we can, and I see patience, humility, and curiosity all the time and admire it to the depths of my soul. I find a lot of vitality in the resilience of all these souls around me.
