Anger is usually a response to the story you’re telling yourself. Whether you’re upset because someone put you in danger, something didn’t go your way or you feel you’ve lost control, anger is always based on the narrative. And you’re the narrator. Of course you’ll always have likes and dislikes, but what you choose to focus on makes a huge difference. If you want to create a satisfying emotional world, refrain from repeatedly recounting stories that are focused on stuff you don’t like. Doing that just makes you mad.

Drop the story and move on.
