Our egos love to criticize and have us believe that we’re smarter, cooler and more talented than other identities. This is a temporary pleasure because these superficial, referential reflections of ourselves separate us from the truth of our connection. They reduce our openness and curiosity and block us from experiences that could otherwise help us grow.
