Since simple carbohydrates digest more quickly than complex carbs or protein, one could argue that eating dessert first might prevent some of the problems associated with simple carbs fermenting while waiting for slower foods to digest. One could also say there are undeniable benefits in doing what we love right now, rather than waiting until all the ducks are in a row (or we’ve retired). While delayed gratification has its place and is sometimes necessary, we’ll probably be happier and experience greater well-being if we make a priority of enjoying life as much as we possibly can…
