When we feel disappointment, fear or anger, it’s worth examining the impulse to tell others about it. It’s understandable to want seek support from others, but sharing misery actually deepens discontent by intensifying the energy that feels bad. It lodges those memories in our bodies by strengthening neural pathways of negativity. This increases the likelihood that we’ll have similar reactions to future events. Luckily, there is a much healthier alternative. We can face our feelings, stay with them without resisting or distracting ourselves and watch as the inevitable happens…
