When you dislike another person’s behavior, it can be experienced either as a discernment or a judgment. Judgment happens when you view their behavior as wrong and the cause of your feelings. With discernment, you recognize that it’s your own conditioning that determines the way you feel about their behavior. Discernment comes from a healthy sense of self, while judgment comes from a lack of self-acceptance. Taking responsibility for your reactions and owning where they come from allows compassion to arise for both of you.
