The diverse complexity of the universe is in a constant state of flux. Old forms age and die, new ones appear on the scene and interact with what’s already here. Since everything is continuously interacting and adjusting, you can’t know if what lies ahead will be good or bad. Despite this obvious uncertainty, if you imagine stressful and unpleasant circumstances in the future it will make you suffer right now. Don’t pollute today by anticipating tomorrow’s hypothetical, frightful scenarios. If you expect good later…
You’ll feel good now.
Steve and Jarl
Hi Steve & Jarl;
Oh boy! You struck home on this one (Building on Itself). I have been working on this exact puzzle for a long time. It’s very tough for one trained in the mathematics of physics, human development, etc., to not “see” the incipient end of civilization . . Just one of twenty or so factors will do it, so dodging the bullet is dodging a whole fusilade.
And yet, everything you say in “Building on Itself” is true. And everything I fear is in the realm of probability. Terrible conundrum, especially when I so much want to help my brothers and sisters by taking our apparent fate seriously and trying to do something about it.
I already ran some of this past Jarl a couple months ago. And all the words are true. I am responsible for my actions and words today, and they can either help me or hurt me. I am successfully working on changing my habits, and this one is a big daddy-o!
It must be something about learning to resist the empire of evil with a totally light heart. I know some of the Eastern ways disallow resistance. I do believe that Gandhi learned to live each day in peace and gratitude. I’ve so much to learn!
Ha ha!
Love, Larry
