When we feel criticized by someone and blame them for the way we feel, we’re missing an opportunity for healing. Their judgment wouldn’t sting if we didn’t have the same judgments of ourselves deep down. Projecting blame onto them keeps us from realizing greater self-awareness. If we looked at the situation as a gift showing us where we need to have more compassion and self- acceptance, we could save ourselves and our relationships a lot of grief.
