Neural imaging data from scientific research on the practice of gratitude has determined that the greatest benefits for our health and well-being come from receiving gratitude. Whether we receive gratitude from another or we’re hearing a story about someone else receiving gratitude, our circuits for gratitude become highly stimulated and positively affect our entire being. The method is to sit quietly, imagine a time when someone was grateful for something you did, or find a story that details someone else feeling grateful for the kindness of another. Embody the feeling for just 5 minutes, three times a week and…
Repeat.
I’m inferring that you saw or listened to the recent Andrew Huberman podcast on this topic. Very interesting and potentially impactful if empirical evidence substantiates what his research and thinking reveals, wouldn’t you agree?
Yes! I did hear that podcast! I loved it. Having my tai chi/qigong students testing it out with me. I imagine if the scientific evidence points to it, it’s probably true.
