Trying to change others is a fruitless and unkind endeavor. They have every right to “do them” their way. When we communicate how we feel in a clear but guilt-free way, they’re much more likely to hear us and care. Attacking, shaming, blaming, playing the victim or threatening consequences is an unconscious and unproductive way to respond. Telling them how we feel and setting boundaries in a loving way is much more effective. If they don’t or can’t respond in a way that feels right, the next step is to take appropriate action, lovingly, and focus on…

Our own well-being.
