While it can often appear that others affect how we feel about ourselves, they really just mirror our own self-perception. Those who doubt, criticize or otherwise ‘make us feel bad’ aren’t actually the cause of the way we feel. They’re simply reflecting the part that already feels that way inside. This information is important — not so we can mount a campaign to change our image in their minds — but so we can examine and improve it in our own.
