When we feel slighted or imagine others have committed a transgression against us, it’s natural for our egos to want to jump at the chance to attack and respond back with similar energy. We may start building a story enumerating their inadequacies and defending our own behavior. This defense is sure to create more tension and prevent us from examining our own role in the dynamic.
