Egos enjoy finding fault by using comparisons that place others in an inferior light. This creates a stronger ego-identity because, the more critical egos are, the more solid they feel. But the comfort of a highly developed identity comes at a great price. Comparisons, judgement and negativity eventually isolate us. Judging others trains our subconscious mind to constantly critique our own performance, applying the same standards to ourselves. This lowers our self-esteem.
