Replacing old patterns with new ones can be hard work. We’re often not even aware we’re making choices when we can in fact choose alternative approaches to thinking and doing. It’s possible to step out of our self-created boxes once we’re conscious enough to recognize that we actually always have a choice. When we catch ourselves thinking or acting from old patterns, we can shift to new ones and integrate our new behavior by consciously identifying with it.
