Where we’ve been, what we’ve done or how much money we’ve accumulated says little about who we really are. Informing others of our accomplishments might dazzle others for a moment, but it doesn’t leave a lasting impression of admiration. In fact, it might do just the opposite. We boast because we want to stand out from the crowd. Looking for gratification by proving we out-compete others is separating.
