The saying, “Be careful what you wish for!” cautions us to be thoughtful about our desires, since we’ll most likely get some version of it. The same prudence is necessary when considering what we want for others. The subconscious mind doesn’t distinguish between ‘us’ and ‘them.’ It interprets what we want for others, as what we want for ourselves. Whether we wish good or bad, it sets out to make sure we get it. Wishing ill-will on others literally creates problems for us.
