Worrying about getting people to like us can cause us to behave inauthentically. When we contort ourselves to satisfy what we think others want, we lose on two counts. First, we lose because we don’t feel free to express our real feelings and opinions. Second, we may have misunderstood what would actually earn their approval. When we act and speak authentically, we enjoy the ease of being who we really are. Instead of staking our well-being upon the unpredictable whims of others’ approval, we live in our integrity and enjoy self-approval. It’s the only type…
That matters.
