There’s a difference between judging and discerning. Our judgments tell us about ourselves; discernments about the situation. Judgment is a projection of a disowned part of ourselves onto others. When we feel strong, negative emotions, disdain for another, or superiority, it’s a signal to look within. Discernment is more detached, like acknowledging what is. Discernment can co-exist with compassion and understanding.
