Most problems begin with our thinking. Our reactions and feelings aren’t nearly as much about what happens as they are about the way we frame it. When we’re mentally stewing in negative emotion, the tension it creates gets stuck in our bodies and eventually results in some sort of dis-ease. Looking at the pain as a metaphor can help us become aware of our unconscious, habitual thought patterns and the resultant unexplored feelings.
