Egos want to be the top dog whenever possible. The more we relate from this ‘little self’, the more likely we are to unconsciously try to gain control and suck energy from others. The most common strategies include: a) Using aloofness to get others to draw us out; b) Teasing to make others squirm; c) Criticizing to cause shame; or d) Blaming others for how we feel.
