Humans need calibration to perform optimally in the same way complicated machines do. Eating healthier and exercising may increase energy and add years, but unexamined emotions can undo these gains and wreak havoc on our lives. Tuning the reactions we have to our environment can dramatically improve our happiness. Much of what perturbs us is of such little consequence that it doesn’t make sense to get bugged at all. When we stop getting irritated, angry or spending the slightest amount of time negatively characterizing insignificant events, it’s like we’re giving ourselves…
A tune-up.
Jarl and Steve
This is a very stimulating episode and gives my consciousness study some grist to work on. Some of my self-micromanaging is just nursing myself along but some of it isĀ getting entangled in things of too little consequence. The tuneup analogy is excellent.
Thanks! Larry
