The so-called ‘news’ reported by the media is highly subjective and riddled with bias. Because all news is skewed by the conditioning of the writers and their networks, it can’t be the objective ‘truth’. Believing that any of it is factual, fixing our opinions and arguing with others about it is unwise. Getting bent out of shape about news that we can’t know is true, might be compelling for our egos, but it isn’t good for our overall well being. Enjoy it if you must, just remember, it’s…
Not real.
Jarl and Steve
Naturally, my filter is a little different. I am not sure that processing what’s happening to us is compelling for our egos. I see it not as “real” or “unreal” but as people gathering together when they sense danger and want to help each other. It is certainly true that the “media” is utterly cynical and constantly distorted for profit and prejudice. But we can still get eyewitness reports to see what we can through someone else’s filter. Even though we all perceive what’s happening differently, by running things through several of our filters we can approach the essence. I think it is natural to want to hear what’s going on, without introducing any element of resistance to it. I know it can be frightening, but I think we can learn to help each other while being grateful and nonresisting. I think that however evolved we are, we still want to protect our children if we have any perception how to.
I have been reading about the philosophical quandaries the Russian Symbolists found themselves. They argued vehemently, what it wasn’t egotistical. They were processing how they could be constructive and did it with love and respect. I think they knew that they could continue to evolve in prison or Siberian forced labor, but wanted to be more connected to others
Even though I am very aware by now that the only reality is what I create within, I still honor the desire to help others in distress. A slightly different take, I suspect. In connection with that, I suspect that a little of our socialization helps us reinforce natural inborn instincts and isn’t egotistical. I wonder if altruism has any role in our evolution. I do think altruism is instinctive, but often masked by egotism and convenience.
Love, Larry
Hi Larry thanks for your comment. We aren’t suggesting that we should not help others. We obviously believe in doing that, that’s why we write these. ; )
We’re simply referring to listening and reacting to news reports as if they’re absolutely true. The point is that egos, love to take a side and then argue with others, proving how wrong another point of view is. The critical point here, after considering the specious nature of most of the information we receive, is that taking information, ANY INFORMATION, about matters that don’t directly concern you, and having (indulging oneself) in an (often negative) emotional, critical and blaming response doesn’t improve the relevant situation, it only lowers our vibration and consequently has the unintended consequence of adding that negativity to the world’s energy. In this case, the person who so wants to help the world by becoming informed about all of the misery in it (and then actively talking about it to others) is having exactly the opposite effect. They are amplifying the energy they so dislike. This post deals mostly with the first part of this dynamic (the accuracy of the news and the reaction). But you know exactly what we’re talking about because you’ve so diligently done our course.
The human view is so short sighted that we can’t ever know why anything is really happening the way it is. We can only guess based on our filter. We always appreciate your input. đŸ™‚
