Erecting intellectual fences around what we ‘know’ and refusing to consider alternative viewpoints is limiting. Just as physical movement is necessary to maintain a healthy body, mental flexibility is required for an evolving outlook on life. Refusing to consider new information narrows one’s experience and inhibits growth. When we ponder all possibilities with an open mind and recognize that we can’t really know the ultimate truth, our options…

Very well put! I find this “refusing to consider” related to people who make it hard for others to relate to them by not being able to listen to outside opinions.
One accomplishment I can appreciate is that I have really given up on truth. Truth is a cool idea, but go ahead and try to identify one!. I think it is important for me to try to find bridges to others’ realities. But I’m not sure it matters when the other is using drugs. Drugs shelter people from marauders like me.

Hi Larry. Well put! If people are on drugs, maybe we don’t want to deal with them in our realities. On the other hand, if for some reason, we have no choice, why not try to relate to them? If they’re in our sphere, then they ARE part of our reality and we may as well try to relate. Feeling like our version of reality proves we ‘know the truth’ very quickly leads to building an identity, viewing the world from an ‘us and them’ perspective and of course, obviously getting stuck in a position.

..nice
..if many amongst us would knew this wisdom regarding their beliefs about god,how many wars could have avoided?how many people would have lived peacefully?how authentically we could have loved our neighbours irrespective of the religion they subscribed to..
Will it happen some day?I don’t know.I know not all the seven billion would nt be available for infiltration of this wisdom, but I hope a critical mass ,one that would be capable of inducing change could be available for this..
I am one.let the mass begins from ourselves.
Come and hold my hand..lets be that critical mass..
