It’s tempting to volunteer advice when we think others have made an unwise move or acted inappropriately, but there are two problems with giving this kind of counsel. First, we can’t know for sure how their behavior will actually play out in the world or where it will eventually lead them. What strikes me is what I don’t even know about myself. We can’t know how our own behavior will actually play out in the world, let alone other’s.
I feel swamped in a world full of people continually advising others without any apparent thought of their own. Learning to accept that is quite a struggle for me. It feels to me like accepting suicide, and I hardly can fathom where to begin.
