The saying, ‘Misery loves company’ suggests that people relish companionship as they go through hardship. Only those who believe that favorably comparing themselves with others actually bears upon their worthiness hold this sentiment. But no one can know the depths of struggle, stellar achievements or the dark nights of the soul you’ve gone through. And you can’t fathom these aspects of other peoples’ lives. Evaluating yourself based on any external parameter is so incomplete and superficial that it’s meaningless. If you’re not competing with others, maybe you should do something else…
Like rooting for them.
